BEATS has approved the final design for the two white beam hutches and lead shielding for the beamline.
Work-packages 3 and 4 elaborated the technical specifications for the beamline hutches with safety staff at SESAME, in collaboration with ALBA (Barcelona), whose staff calculated the specifications for lead shielding.
The hutches will be manufactured by the company Innospec in Germany. Production is due to start immediately with delivery expected between December 2021 and April 2022, depending on constraints imposed by transport. In 2021, transit times have been volatile following world-wide pandemic-related delays and closures in parallel to an increased demand for ocean freight between the continents.
The BEATS beamline is progressing to schedule and is due to be completed by end 2022.
